"W" IS FOR WRAP IT UP!

So many weddings have additional information that needs to be included with the invitation itself. I can't tell you how many brides have shared stories with me about receiving invitations and having all the 'stuff' fall out upon opening the envelope. My solution... "WRAP IT UP!" It's easy and fun coming up with unique, yet functional, ways to incorporate information cards into the overall invitation ensemble. Here are just a few:

unique: distinct, individual, special, unusual, one-of-a-kind, rare, uncommon

Unique is just another word for originals if you ask me! What details will make (or made) your wedding stationery UNIQUE? Do tell.

Below is a message in a bottle invitation with fabulous mailing tube, lovely hand-stamped red envelopes, functional luggage tags, and celebration ribbon ties. These invitation details set the stage for their specific event and I can guarantee they won't soon be forgotten.

"R" IS FOR ROUNDED CORNERS

Rounded corners soften an invitation and add an elegant finish to any print project. There are ways to get rounded corners in the production world, but remember, everything that comes out of Originals Paper Art is done by hand.

"R" IS FOR ROUNDED CORNERS

I rounded all four corners on the calligraphy invitation to highlight the lines of the writing and soften the hard corners in order to compliment the elegance of the handmade paper. The pink favor label has two rounded corners on the bottom which softens the transition from the label to the curvy contents. And finally, the jelly tags are for small jelly jars and the long curvy graphic screams for rounded corners on opposite corners. Do you see it? Do you love it?

"O" IS FOR ORIGINALS PAPER ART

SURPRISE! Did you think "O" would stand for anything but ORIGINALS PAPER ART!? I spent last week finishing a marketing campaign for my invitation business that has been in the works for months. This is the greeting card I designed to introduce myself and Originals.

Inside the greeting card is a vellum sheet of paper, clipped in with a swirl clip that holds two of my business cards, and it reads:

"N" IS FOR NEGATIVE SPACE

A few weeks ago I posted an article about white space and I'd have to say negative space is pretty much the same thing. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia's definition of negative space: The use of equal negative space, as a balance to positive space, in a composition is considered by many as good design. This basic and often overlooked principle of design gives the eye a "place to rest," increasing the appeal of a composition through subtle means.

Here are a few of invitation designs where I incorporated negative {white} space to enhance the design and direct your eye through the information.
